poetry

a scarlet sunset (a poem)

a january mississippi
evening, sky fresh
and clear from scattered
showers that morning

a picture perfect moment,
the sun gone down low,
as the scarlet sunset sinks
its teeth and aims to take my soul

time and space have no power
when the scarlet sunset’s here;
but soon enough she’s gone,
and in her place roll my tears
