Q & A time!

Hello, my dear readers!

It’s a new year, so why not do a new Q & A? (This is my attempt at trying to be cool, but I know it is failing miserably.) On a more serious note, I realized I have not done a Q & A in quite some time, so I thought it would be fun to answer a few nonsensical questions for you guys. And I want you to answer as well!

So, without further ado, let’s commence!

Random Route 66 finds. What am I wearing? (Tucumcari, New Mexico // August 2019)

1. Are you a dog person or cat person?

In all reality, I’m a guinea pig person. I’m kind of scared of dogs and cats since I’ve never had them as pets. That being said, I would much rather be around pups!

2. Are you a fan of any sports team?

I used to be a diehard Carolina Panthers fan (NFL football). But now I do not watch sports at all. (Too much time devoted to this blog! 🙂

3. Are you a good cook?

I’m getting there. I do enjoy cooking, but I’m not the biggest fan of trying new things. That being said, my friend and I did make a nice chicken penne pasta dish a few nights ago, and our cooking skills were put to the test. We didn’t burn anything, and we didn’t get sick, so I find those two traits the sign of a slightly average chef in the making.

4. Are you a hoarder?

To a certain extent, yes. What do I mean by this? I hoard books. I’ve got hundreds at this point, so I should probably donate them soon to the local library. But I love walking by all of them and reviewing what I’ve read. (You may relate to this.)

5. Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Naturally a morning person. I enjoy rising with the sun. During college I was a night owl because everyone else was, but my natural self is a morning gal.

6. Are you close to anyone now that you initially disliked?

Yes! I won’t name names, but yes. Which is a life lesson of… Give people a chance! You never know who will end up being extremely important in your life.

7. Are you high maintenance?

I hope not!

8. Are you more likely to avoid conflict or engage it head-on?

Avoid, avoid, avoid. I hate conflict. I wish life were always rainbows and unicorns, but that’s not how it goes. When certain lines are crossed, a certain beast in me is unleashed, and I engage it head-on, but that has to be an extremely rare occurrence (such as an attack on friends or family).

9. Are you named after anyone?

Yes! My middle name, Kay, is after my grandmother’s middle name. So whenever someone says Katie Kay, he or she is honoring my grandmother! ❤

10. Are you scared of heights?

Nope. I guess that’s a good quality to have when one is a pilot. 🙂

11. Can you dance?

I’m the worst dancer in the history of mankind. But I do enjoy a good electric slide!

12. Can you do a split?

I’m also the least limber human being in this universe, so the short answer is no.

13. Can you touch your nose with your tongue?

What kind of a question is this? Who has a tongue that long?!?! Is that possible?!

14. Can you whistle?

Yes! Finally something I can say yes to.

15. Describe yourself in a single sentence?

Katie Kay is a redonk individual who loves to ask questions, blog, study UFOs, and take quick trips across the sky.

17. Did your mother go to college?

Yes! She graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in English Literature.

18. Do you belong to any warehouse stores (Costco, BJ’s, etc.)?

I do enjoy a nice membership at Costco. There’s something pretty entertaining about getting lost in this warehouse store for a little bit. Normally I hit up the book section and find some cheap keyboards to play.

19. If you could give your younger self any advice what would it be?

Don’t be a creative writing major in college. (More on this to come, I promise!)

20. If you could live forever, would you rather stay one age forever or get older?

Just because I could live forever doesn’t mean I’d choose to. 🙂 Maybe this is a sad outlook, but I don’t want to live forever on this planet. There are better things in store. Plus, it would break my heart if I was on Earth forever while my loved ones were not.

21. If you could save just one, would you rather save Humanity or the Earth?

Another weird question. How would I save humanity without Earth? Whatever, I won’t question too much. Duh, I’d save humanity! While Earth is amazing and a great home, humanity far outweighs Earth.

22. What did you want to be when you grew up?

23. What do you call carbonated drink called?

24. What do you do if you can’t sleep at night? Do you count sheep? Toss and Turn? Try to get up and do something productive?

I’m pretty lucky with my sleep cycles. It takes me a few minutes to fall asleep, but I always plan out stories with this spare time. But on the rare chance I can’t sleep, I toss and turn or listen to music to calm my brain down.

25. What do you do most when you are bored?

Unfortunately I look up nonsense on my phone. Another favorite is messing with my sister.

26. What do you like about your home?

A perfect description of my life.

Some random nonsense from me! But seriously I want to see your responses, so don’t be afraid to comment below with your own answers. ❤

Well, for now I’m gonna go, and I’ll probably still be pondering question #21, because how in the world would we have humanity but no Earth? All right. Enough rambling today.

Until next time,

-Katie Kay

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this blog. As always you guys are amazing, and you inspire me to produce more quality content.

As this post goes live, I will be taking a pretty important test. These past few weeks I have been studying 1,200 questions in order to prepare, so I’ve been kind of incognito when it comes to producing the sorts of posts I enjoy most. However, I wanted to write something quick for today, so you’ll have to bear with this ridiculous Q & A.

I promise to write something of higher quality on Friday. While it is fun answering these questions, this blog operates on posts that involve you guys and writing, not just random facts about me.

But for today… Here are some random answers to some even more random questions.

1. What’s the most useless talent you have?

My sister thinks my most useless talent is my ability to tilt the pad of thumb all the way back. Something I cannot do is roll my tongue, and I get hate about that wherever I go. Ridiculous.

2. What’s a body part that you wouldn’t mind losing?

Speaking of body parts… I would prefer to keep all of them intact. Maybe I’d choose losing a tooth or a toe. I don’t know, is that a good enough answer?

3. What’s your biggest screw up in the kitchen?

This is going to be so embarrassing to admit, but I think you guys will enjoy this story.

On Wednesday mornings at college, I always go to Chick-fil-A for a quick breakfast. On one particular morning, I brought leftover biscuits back to my college dorm room to save for later that day (gross, I know, but a hungry college student must do what he or she needs for survival purposes).

A few hours later, I was hungry again and decided to heat up the biscuit. But the stupid part: I decided to microwave the biscuit in the paper wrapping. What happens, one might ask? There was a loud boom, I saw a flame, and I hurriedly put out the fire (small, sure, but it was still definitely a major screw-up in the “kitchen”). The smoke was so bad that I have no idea how the detectors didn’t go off, and one of my suitemates stumbled into my room and asked, “Um, are you okay?”

I held up my damaged biscuit and said, “Sorry for the smell.”

4. What are some things that sound like compliments but are actually insults?

The biggest one that comes to mind is this Southern phrase: “Bless your heart.”

5. Which common saying or phrase describes you?

I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this on the blog before, but my friends and I make up our own weird language when we’re around each other. There are so many terms we’ve created that it is hard to follow, but my personal favorite is “redonk,” which somehow came from the word “ridiculous.”

I think it went something like this:

6. What is your favorite time of the day?

My favorite time of the day is the morning! This is when I feel like I can get the most accomplished, and there is still the rest of the day in case I need it. Though it can be hard to get up early sometimes, I really do believe the early bird catches the worm.

7. Where would you want to retire to?

Though I’m very far off from retirement (since I don’t even have a proper job yet hehe), I do have dreams of living in a remote cabin in the middle of nowhere. As a writer I crave mountains, brooks, and sunsets that defy all logic. (Think of a fairytale, and that’s what I’m talking about.)

However, I think that is just what it’s meant to be: A dream. Really I will want to be wherever my family is. ❤

8. What is your best childhood memory?

My favorite memory is when my mom found out she was pregnant. I will never forget finding out I was going to have a younger sibling.

9. What are some of the different jobs that you have had in your life?

Well, let’s go down the list, shall we?

When I was in high school, I was a babysitter and a math tutor. Though these weren’t “official” jobs, it was fun making some mad money in order to buy books.

During college, things got a little more “redonk.” My friend Hannah convinced me to work in the scene shop, which is basically the department responsible for theatre sets. Somehow I, a skinny kid with no knowledge of theatre arts, was operating power tools in order to construct grandiose university sets. Looking back, it’s really funny, because my friends got pegged to do more of the hard labor, whereas I was usually designated as a painter.

While abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I operated my school’s library. I organized hundreds of books, and that has probably been my favorite job so far. (I am a dork, I know, but there is something wildly therapeutic from re-shelving an entire library and putting things into order.)

Then we should talk about my most extensive job. I was a sales girl (LOL) at a country shop. It was actually at this shop where I began my blog, due to nonstop boredom from lack of customers. (If you’re curious, you can visit one of my original posts here.) I worked there for two years, and it was actually a very formative experience for me, because I got to meet so many interesting customers and clean for hours at a time.

Then the store went bankrupt, and my boss literally did not tell me this until I showed up to find random men taking things off the walls, but that is a story for another blog post…

10. Do you sing in the shower?

Of course. Who doesn’t?!?

How I feel right now (on some random flight in January 2019)

11. Which store would you choose to max out your credit card?

TJ Maxx. I went there today. So many amazing bargains!

12. What do you do most when you are bored?

This is bad, but I watch a lot of YouTube videos. Recently my best friend and I have taken an oath to get off our phones more, and this means cutting out these pointless online videos. Though there is a lot of cool and necessary information on the Internet, I don’t think my go to relaxation moment should be to always be checking out YouTube.

13. If you had A Big Win in the Lottery, how long would you wait to tell people?

What kind of a question is this? Knowing me, I can’t keep my big mouth shut, so probably not very long.

14. Who would you tell first?

Probably Momma J, who would then tell the whole world.

15. Is there anything going on this weekend?

When this post goes live, it will be Monday, June 16. So… The following weekend, um… I really do not plan things that far in advance. Eep!

16. How are you feeling right now?

I’m feeling pretty good. I’m studying super hard for a test, but I’m not too stressed about it. Other than that, I’m kinda sad about something, but I know things work out for a reason! There is so much to be thankful for right now, though.

17. What do you think about the most?

Probably the thing I am sad about. If not that, I’m definitely up in the clouds with my studies.

18. What time do you get up in the morning?

6 o’clock. Rise with the sun, my friends.

19. What’s under your bed?

I keep boxes of my old manuscripts under my bed. A few weeks ago I pulled a box out and read my childhood stories, and it was so cute to see what was in my head then. I love being able to read my old materials, especially to see how much I’ve grown. You should do the same thing, if you’re a writer!

20. Do you believe in love at first sight?

I have never been in love, so I am not sure.

21. What was your favorite subject at school?

It depended on the day, that’s for sure! I am pretty strong at English, but I loved learning about science and history. At college I’m a Spanish major, but it’s probably not my favorite subject. Really I enjoy everything, except math (ironically, I was a math tutor in high school).

22. Have you ever had to wear a uniform to school?

Yes, for ten years…

23. Have you baked a cake, who for and was it a success?

I’m not sure if I’ve ever baked a cake, but I intentionally chose this question from a good old memory…

While I was abroad, I could not come home for the American holiday of Thanksgiving, so I had a “Friendsgiving” with some chicos from school. My friend Chase and I were in charge of brownies, and we forgot one of the key ingredients: Butter. As everyone else was busy whipping up mashed potatoes and pasta and whatever else we could scrounge up (I’m not sure if we had turkey or not), Chase and I were struggling with our butter-less brownies.

They turned out pretty good though, but Chase and I haven’t made anything together since.

24. If you were a flower which one would you be?

What kind of a question…

Eh, probably a violet. I like the color purple.

25. If you were a tree which one would you be?

Again, what kind of a question..

Maybe an oak, just because they remind me of the South.

26. Why would you like to go to a tropical island or the Arctic more?

Absolutely a tropical island. I have been pretty close to Antarctica, and all I can say is, I would enjoy the tropics a little more.

27. Where would you most like to live?

Wherever my family is! It’s not necessarily about the place; it’s about the people.

28. Which planet in the solar system would you visit?

29. What’s your favorite cheesy pick-up line? Have you ever used it for real?

“You’re from Tennessee? You’re the only ten I see.”

No, I have never used this, but some chicos have used it on me. Let’s just say… LOL.

You guys are the best. Expect a better post on Friday!

Until next time,

-A mentally fatigued K.

Somewhere in southern Utah (April 2019)

Hi, my wonderful readers!

I’m so sorry to have been incognito in these past few weeks. A lot of great things have happened, and I will be writing a blog post on that for Monday. Please know that I have missed my blog so much, and especially hearing from you guys! It gives me great joy to be able to connect to so many different people across the globe, as you guys are truly amazing. ❤

Since it has been a while since I’ve posted anything, I decided to do another Q & A, since I haven’t done one in a long time. This gives you guys a chance to get to know me better, and I really do enjoy answering some of these ridiculous questions.

I hope you are all doing well, and I am looking forward to reading your blog posts as well. Without further ado, though, let’s get into the Q & A!

Malibu, CA (March 2019) When am I not wearing tennis shoes?

1. Read on a Kindle or paperback book?

Paperbacks are the best in my opinion. There is no greater feeling that having a book in your hands, the pages glimpses into the soul of the writer. I love old books too, the ones you get from a used bookstore, because I feel as if I am connecting to not only the author, but any previous readers too. That being said, I do have a Kindle, and it is a convenient method to reading popular novels.

2. Go to a play or musical?

Though I am in love with music, I have never been big into musicals or plays. I am very much a movie person, but plays and musicals have never been my schtick. My friends will make fun of me for how much I’m not into musicals, though there are good ones here and there.

3. Go to the theater or a movie?

Definitely the movies. I am obsessed with film, and I always have been. I can attribute this to my dad’s love of movies too, as I grew up watching the classics with him. Another fond memory of mine is Friday family movie nights, where I’d pop some cheesy popcorn, pick out a movie, and critique like Roeper. Even now I am addicted to movies. Back home it is an absolute joy to forget the world, hop into the air conditioned theater, and pretend for a while. At college my friends and I hop aboard $5 Tuesday movie nights at AMC so that we can see the newest releases on a budget, since movies are so expensive these days. Just this past Tuesday I saw Pet Sematary, the latest adaptation of Stephen King’s bestseller.

4. Have a Margarita or Pina Colada?

Diet Coke. 😉

BLAST FROM THE PAST! (August 2015) Random pictures with my guinea pig

5. Crash with friends or stay in a hotel?

I honestly have no idea what this question is. I love staying at people’s homes, since it is such a personal experience, but at times I’m an introvert who craves the peaceful aura of  a hotel. I have the travel bug, so I’ve stayed at countless hotels, motels, Airbnbs, hostels, and cabins in the past few years. I’ve found that one method isn’t better than another; it’s who you’re with that matters.

6. Visit Europe or Mexico?

I have never been to either. I spent a year abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, so I’d probably go to Europe if I had the chance. And there isn’t just one country I could go to; I’d want to see them all!

7. Vacation in Hawaii or Alaska, and why?

Both. I think both states are incredible, with their own strengths and weaknesses. I think Hawaii would be a great family trip, whereas Alaska would be something I’d want to do with hikers and outdoorsy individuals. I’m not sure I could pick between the two.

8. Choose a free trip or money? This may tell you whether the person values experiences over dollars.

This is a weird question. I think I’d have to know where the free trip would be, and how much money I am being offered. If someone handed me a thousand dollars, a good portion of that money would be going to travel anyway, if we’re being honest. Though I am a broke college kid right now, I know that a big portion of my future income will go to exploration of this amazing planet!

9. Travel by plane, train, or automobile?

Plane. 😉

10. Go climbing or zip lining?

Probably zip lining. I have done rock climbing once, and it was so much fun. However, I zip lined in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and it was so incredible to whoosh down a mountain. My heart wanted to burst out of my chest, but it was such an unforgettable experience, and I would love to do it again.

11. Hike or bike?

Hike. Though biking is fun too, I enjoy a nice hike now and then. While I’m not a fan of extended, rigorous hiking, I do love getting lost in some wilderness and walking through forests and deserts and the beautiful world in which we live. This is something else I inherited from my dad, as we both value National Parks here in my home country of the United States.

12. Go to a comedy club or dance club?

I’d prefer to stay at home with a book (LOL). If I had to choose between the two, it would depend on 1) with whom I’m going, and 2) what kind of a comedy/dance club we’d be going to. So many comedians are too crude for my liking, and so many dance clubs aren’t my cup of my tea. I like dancing, but I’ve had some bad experiences at clubs in the past, so I’d probably choose a comedy club.

13. Have a night out or evening in?

It depends on what the night out would entail. I love going out to movies and grabbing a good dinner, but I’m an early bird who prefers seeing the world in the daytime. That being said, I’m an adventurer who wants to really dive in deep to the place she lives. Living in Los Angeles has given me so many opportunities to see and do things I would never have the chance to do otherwise, and many of those experiences are more memorable because it happened at nighttime. So… Another response in which I say I am not sure I can choose.

14. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

I’m not sure there is a specific statement that has changed my life, but I can give examples of ethic that have been key pieces of advice for my life. My parents instilled hard work into my brain from an early age on, and I have learned to set goals for myself that are realistic but will propel me to where I want to go.

15. Go canoeing or waterskiing?

I’ve never been waterskiing, and my canoeing skills are quite limited. One time I almost died while kayaking, so there was that situation. (While I’d like to think this is an understatement, it was a very tense moment during my freshman year of college.) That being said, I’d love to try out waterskiing, but I really do enjoy canoeing. A great memory I have is of canoeing on an Ohio river with my cousins while trying not to A) encounter a snake, or B) topple us over.

16. Camp in an RV or stay in a tent?

While I do consider myself an outdoorsy person, I’m not the biggest fan of tents. I like air conditioning and heat and running water. While an RV isn’t the best lodging in my opinion, I wouldn’t mind taking an RV across the country.

17. Use Facebook or Twitter?

Neither. I’m not big into social media. The only reason I have a Facebook is for college purposes, and the only reason I use Twitter is to network with the writing community. Instagram is a waste of time in my opinion, whereas I do use Snapchat.

18. Win the lottery or find your perfect job?

Perfect job. While money can buy some happiness, I’m looking for joy, and I know joy comes from long-lasting things.

19. Swim in a pool or the ocean? Salt water and waves crashing on the beach or temperature controlled, lovely water all year round.

Ocean! I’ve never been really big into swimming, but I do enjoy hopping into the sea now and then. I love hopping on a bodyboard and pretending I can surf, when I have the gracefulness of a newborn giraffe.

20. Travel by sailboat or cruise ship?

I’ve never been on either, so I’m not sure I could accurately choose!

21. What’s your favorite candle scent?

Anything fall scented! There is nothing more I miss than a good Southern autumn, since I haven’t had one in three years. I love when the leaves start to change color, from a deep emerald to bright scarlet or orange. I love corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and the crisp weather. And when it becomes fall, I always bring out my favorite fall candles.

Well, only 21 questions today. I promise to get back into the rhythm of two posts a week, and I’m excited to do so, because I have so much to update you guys on. But in the meantime I hope you all have a wonderful Friday! ❤

Until next time,

Malibu, CA (March 2019)

Q & A (Round Two)

Since it is Monday, it’s time for another blog post. I’d like to take a few sentences to tell update you on my school year and how writing is coming along, before we get into the meat of this Q & A (just get ready).

Time is honestly flying by, and I am surprised it is already mid-October. There is a lot that needs to be done in these next few months, but I’m eager for new challenges, as each challenge that one receives is an opportunity to grow. That being said, I am excited for the Christmas season to roll around, so I can go home and see my family.

On the writing front, I am not getting much done. I started a new psychological thriller that was ultimately scrapped, since I was not enjoying the material. A week or so ago I started a new Southern Gothic book, but I’m still not writing like normal. For my new readers, I’m a voracious writer who normally cracks out around a thousand words to two thousand words a day (depending on the project I am working on). Now that school has come to claim my freedom, I am a little more strapped for time, and my passion has dissipated a little bit. It’s definitely something I’m working on.

Now let’s get into the reason you clicked on this article: It’s time for some questions… And answers. 🙂 This list I selected is from a random website, and I chose the first forty questions. I will answer honestly and stupidly, so please keep that in mind.

1. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What can you touch?

This is going to be one ridiculous Q & A. I’ve got condor arms, so I can definitely reach my friend’s backpack that is on the chair in front of me.

Maybe I should have picked some existential questions or something. This is going to be brutal.

2. Before you started this survey, what were you doing?

Unfortunately, I was working on Spanish homework. I should probably do that right now, but sometimes you just have to put things off.

3. What is the last thing you watched on TV?

I don’t watch much TV anymore, but I do binge Netflix and Hulu occasionally. A friend has me hooked on 30 Rock, and I did watch an episode last night… (My version of a wild Saturday night hehe).

4. Without looking, guess what time it is.

Sunday, October 14. It is probably 2:30 PST.

5. Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?

HA! I was off by one minute. As I write this, it is Sunday, October 14, at 2:29 PST.

That is a fun fact about me: I’m a human alarm clock. I can wake myself whenever I want, and this has only failed me once in years of the gift. My dad also has this special quirk, so it’s gotta be in my family genes.

6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?

I’m listening to Spotify in the “Release Radar” category, so the song playing is one I’ve never heard in my life, and it’s quite slow. Let me look up the title…

“Lilo” by The Japanese House. Give it a listen, I suppose, if you’re in a speculative mood.

7. When did you last step outside? What were you doing?

The last time I was outside was approximately two hours ago. I was leaving the cafeteria for the library, so not really anything super satisfying…

I do love the outdoors though. I’m a big fan of hiking and letting the sun soak into my skin (as long as I wear sunscreen).

8. Did you dream last night?

Yes… And it wasn’t the best dream. It reflected some things that have been on my mind recently, and these are things that are taking time to heal. 🙂

9. What is the last film you saw?

Crazy Rich Asians. It was pretty cute! I would recommend it.

10. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

Somewhere near mountains, my family and friends, and a Mexican restaurant that has full access to chips and queso.

11. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?

Well, hopefully I’d invest a lot of the money into the stock market and savings accounts… I’d probably want to buy a house in the middle of nowhere and take my family on a trip somewhere beautiful.

12. Tell me something about you that most people don’t know.

Most people in my “normal” life as a college student have no clue that I am a writer. Some of my closest friends still don’t know, even though I don’t keep it a total secret. Pretty weird, right?

13. If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?

I’d change the fact that gas in California is so darn expensive.

14. Do you like to dance?

I am atrocious at it… It’s like watching an octopus on the dance floor.

That being said, I do love to dance. I took a tango class in Argentina that was torture, but regular dancing is pretty fun.

15. Would you ever consider living abroad?

I lived abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for a year. I’m good for a while.

I do love traveling, though, and I really want to explore everywhere I haven’t been.

16. Does your name make any interesting anagrams?

Who knows. However, I do have some pretty incredible nicknames, including Katie Kay.

17. Who made the last incoming call on your phone?

Momma J.

18. Last time you swam in a pool?

Probably over the summer. I go to the beach a lot, though.

19. Type of music you like most?

I love everything, as long as there’s a good beat and meaningful lyrics.

20. Type of music you dislike most?

I used to hate country music, but now I am a fan. I don’t know if there is a particular genre I don’t like, come to think of it.

21. Are you listening to music right now?

“Ship to Shore” by Stars.

22. What color is your bedroom carpet?

Ugly gray.

23. If you could change something about your home, without worry about expense or mess, what would you do?

About my dorm? The fact that people leave clumps of hair in the shower.

24. What was the last thing you bought?

A double chocolate chip frappuccino at Starbucks.

25. Have you ever ridden on a motorbike?

No, but I’d love to try it out! I had a four-wheeler when I was a kid, and it was always a lot of fun.

26. Would you go bungee jumping or sky diving?

Sky diving, 100%. Bungee jumping, probably not.

27. Do you have a garden?

One day!

28. Do you really know all the words to your national anthem?

29. What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?

Do I really have to get up this early?

30. If you could eat lunch with one famous person, who would it be?

I used to care about my celebrities, but now I don’t. If I could eat lunch with someone right now, I’d probably want to eat with my sister. 🙂

31. Who sent the last text message you received?

32. Which store would you choose to max out your credit card?

TJ Maxx…

33. What time is bed time?

9 o’clock. Early bird catches that worm, my friends.

34. Have you ever been in a beauty pageant?

35. How many tattoos do you have?

Absolutely not.

36. If you don’t have any, have you ever thought of getting one?

37. What did you do for your last birthday?

I was in Argentina and thought that I’d probably treat myself to a nice Coca Light (the South American Diet Coke), but my friends threw me an incredible surprise birthday party with home-cooked pasta and dessert. It was amazing!

38. Who was the last person you ate dinner with?

My memory fails me…

39. Is the glass half empty or half full?

Half full. Optimism is key! (Kudos to The Forever Optimist.)

40. What’s the farthest-away place you’ve been?

Ushuaia, Argentina, which is the southernmost city in the world!

Another ridiculous Q & A… Hopefully, this wasn’t the worst thing you’ve read today. I will probably write a “writer’s” blog post next week, so more to come. 🙂

Until next time,

Ushuaia, Argentina, with Maggie Givenchy!!! (February 2018)

Though I have been blogging for the past year, I feel like I don’t talk about myself too much. My posts always relate to my books and my year abroad in Argentina, and so I have decided to follow some Youtubers’ footsteps and answer a few questions for you guys…

*On a little side note, I want to clarify that I’m not really one to dwell on myself; I love learning about others more! So this may be a rare post. 🙂 Also, these questions are pretty generic. I may make a more detailed Q & A in the future, depending on how I feel.

1. What’s your favorite candle scent?

Cinnamon smells like heaven… So anything related to autumn, probably.

2. What female celebrity do you wish was your sister?

Emily Blunt seems like a genuinely awesome person, and I’ve loved her ever since The Devil Wears Prada. If she were my sister, John Krasinski would be my brother-in-law, so…

3. What male celebrity do you wish was your brother?

I love Winston Bishop from New Girl, but he’s a fictional character. Oh well, that counts in my book. 🙂

4. How old do you think you’ll be when you get married?

Late twenties. We’ll see when he actually shows up though. (Chico, you can show up anytime, thank you.)

5. Do you know a hoarder?

I actually do… One who has nearly twenty cats and a haunted house full of secrets! This has inspired me to not hoard.

6. Can you do a split?

Not without splitting my leg muscles.

7. How old were you when you learned how to ride a bike?

Probably five, but my memory is absolute trash. I love to ride bikes, though.

8. How many oceans have you swum in?

Two: The Pacific and the Atlantic. I love the Gulf Coast of Alabama and Florida, but the Pacific Coast along California is amazing.

9. How many countries have you been to?

The United States (my home), Canada, Argentina, Uruguay, Perú, and Chile. If I learned to count, that would make six. 🙂

I love to travel though, and I really want to visit Australia/New Zealand, Europe, Kenya, Ethiopia, India, and the Middle East. Basically I want to see the whole world!

Me, Katie George, in Salta, Argentina (October 2017).

10. What would you name your daughter if you had one?

I have always wanted to name one of my daughters Claire Elizabeth. Living in Argentina introduced me to the name Delfina, which means dolphin in Spanish, and I find that name breathtaking!

11. What would you name your son if you had one?

I want to have a lot of children… But for sure I will name two of my sons James and Samuel.

Credit: Deeply Dapper. While I love studying myths and conspiracy theories, I do not necessarily believe that these monsters/aliens/creepy things actually exist.

12. What was your favorite TV show when you were a child?

This may make me sound like a total dork (which I am), but I always watched the Travel Channel and HGTV as a kid (still do). I especially loved travel documentaries on the most haunted locales around the globe and other specials on UFOs and el chupacabra and the Loch Ness Monster and… I could go on.

13. What did you dress up as on Halloween when you were eight?

Again, since I have the memory of a fish, I’m not really sure. I know I went as a doctor one year, Cleopatra the next, and Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean another year. Those are the only three I remember.

14. Have you read any of the Harry Potter, Hunger Games or Twilight series?

I just read the first Harry Potter book last Christmas, but I have read and seen the Hunger Games and Twilight books and movies. If I had to choose a series, I’d probably pick Twilight, but I’m not really a fan of any of these. (Sorry to all the fans, hopefully you’ll still like me!)

15. Would you rather have an American accent or a British accent?

16. What language, besides your native language, would you like to be fluent in?

I speak English and am pretty fluent in Spanish (after a year in Argentina, I don’t know how much more fluent I will become lol). If I had to choose another language, I’d probably pick Afrikaans or something really out there.

17. Do you spell the color as grey or gray?

This is a really dumb question. For a person’s name, I prefer Grey; but for the color, it is gray. At least in American English.

18. Do you prefer Titanic or The Notebook?

19. Have you ever had Indian food?

No, but I’m absolutely game to try!

20. What’s the name of your favorite restaurant?

I love anything Tex-Mex, and that includes queso (also known as cheese dip). For those of you are confused, queso is typically a bowl of white, melted cheese that is like heaven to the tongue!

21. Have you ever been to Olive Garden?

Way too many times. While I love their pasta, a friend introduced me to their gnocchi soup, and it is delicious.

22. What would your parents have named you if you were the opposite gender?

Supposedly, they would have named me Garrett. I cannot even begin to imagine…

23. If you have a nickname, what is it?

Katie Kay! Some people call me KG, Katarina, Maggot…

24. Who’s your favorite person in the world?

My sister.

25. Would you rather live in a rural area or in the suburbs?

I’ve lived in both, and I’d probably pick a rural area close to the suburbs…

26. Can you whistle?

27. Do you sleep with a nightlight?

If I am alone, I do…

28. Do you usually remember your dreams in the morning?

I LOVE dreams… I love analyzing dreams, telling dreams… DREAMS, DREAMS, DREAMS.

But I probably don’t remember them that much, which is unfortunate. Every morning I will ask friends/family about their dreams so that we can dig deep into the psyche.

29. What flavor tea do you enjoy?

Altitude sickness: Coca tea. Bronchitis: Earl Grey. Me without ailments: Diet Coke.

30. How many pairs of shoes do you currently own?

Too many… Probably fifteen. This may be a small number or a big number, depending on who you are, but fifteen is too many.

31. What religion will you raise your children to practice?

Christianity, but it will ultimately be their choice.

A quick stop in Bariloche, Argentina (April 2018). Fun fact: I had bronchitis and mosquito bites all over my face during this time…

There you have it. Thirty-one questions. You may hate me now, or you may like me. The choice is yours! Anyway, it was kind of fun to answer some basic questions, even though these were very basic and not too deep.

I hope you guys are having a great start to July, and I will write soon. Comment on this post if you have any further questions or concerns about mi vida.

Until next time,
